The pieces were two full sized dogs made of wood and recycled materials that would be mounted on the front of the building for public display. This is a screen capture of the dogs from last nights meeting. The image below doesn't give a good representation of what the statues look like in person.

I thought they were pretty cool. They looked a bit like "Zombie Dogs" to me. I'm heavily into Zombies currently as I'm watching the exciting AMC TV show, "The Walking Dead," which is about a Zombie Apocalypse caused by some sort of virus that has spread across the globe. A group of survivors is trying to make their way across the Zombie infested United States in order to find a cure and safety.
Unfortunately it appears the Zombie's have already gotten to most of our Councilors.
The Art in Public Places Board found these art pieces and decided they would be fantastic for the Animal Shelter. The Board voted to take the recommendation to Council.
Two of our Councilors appear to have escaped the Zombie menace unscathed. Councilors Chiravalle and Rogers voted to approved the art work and trusted that the AiPP Board had done a good job in their selection.
The rest of the Councilors appear to have been infected. They voted NO. Councilors Berting, Stover, Izraelevitz and Wismer all didn't care for the art work and felt that there should be some sort of equal opportunity for cats to be represented in the display. I nearly blew a cog when I heard that one.

Now Council is worrying about whether dogs and cats are equally represented? Have we really sunk to that level?
Brains, must find Brains!
Many Los Alamosans are very fond of their pet Hamsters. I feel that Hamsters should also be represented in future art work for the Animal Shelter. Hamster Rights!

My kid has a pet rat. I'm upset that rats have not also been represented. (*tongue planted firmly in cheek*)
Also? Good grief.
Will also cop to being a nonresident. Yet.
